Nazafarin Hassanpour (b. 1995, Shiraz, Iran) is a filmmaker and film editor currently studying at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) as one of six selected students in film editing. She initially studied Electrical Engineering (Telecommunications) before transitioning into cinema.
Her journey in filmmaking began when she joined the Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS) in 2018, completing a one-year filmmaking course. Recognized as one of the two most creative students in the program. Her first professional editing experience was on the short film "Soori".
Hassanpour later earned her Master's degree in Cinema from Sepehr University of Isfahan in Iran. Her thesis, titled "Structure Analysis on Walter Murch's Edit", was supervised by Dr. Pedram Sadraei, with Mr. Walter Murch himself as a consultant, receiving top honors.
Walter Murch is an acclaimed American film editor and sound designer, best known for his work on Apocalypse Now, The English Patient, and The Godfather trilogy. A three-time Academy Award winner, he has significantly influenced modern editing and sound design.
Beyond academia, Hassanpour has edited numerous short films, music videos, and commercials. Notable works include "Radde" and "Dribble", the latter of which was also her first short film as a director, co-directed with Ali Lavari Monfared. Her editing has earned multiple awards at international film festivals.
Currently, she works as a director and editor across Iran, Germany, and the US
